SEWTREAT’S SOLUTION
A 3.2 MLD borehole water treatment system using AFM filtration
SewTreat proposed a 3.2 MLD borehole water treatment system using advanced Activated Filter Media (AFM) filtration.
AFM filtration is designed to filter down to 1 micron, allowing the system to capture fine particulates that conventional sand and multimedia filters may not remove.
Following filtration, the water passes through a sodium hypochlorite disinfection stage to eliminate coliforms and bacteria and provide a safe, high-quality water supply for its intended use.
Treatment Process
How the Northgate borehole water treatment system works
The documented treatment process combines advanced filtration with a final disinfection stage before the treated water is used as potable water.
01
Borehole Water Feed
The plant receives borehole water that requires treatment before potable use within the residential development.
02
AFM Filtration
AFM filtration removes suspended solids and unwanted particles, with the project brief identifying filtration down to 1 micron.
03
Sodium Hypochlorite Disinfection
Following filtration, sodium hypochlorite disinfection is used to address microbiological contaminants including coliforms and bacteria.
04
Potable Water Supply
The integrated filtration and disinfection process provides high-quality treated water for the intended potable application.
PLANT BENEFITS
High-capacity potable water treatment with fine filtration and microbiological control
The Northgate mixed use development plant strengthens water security by treating an available borehole source at a capacity of 3.2 MLD.
