Typical Water Treatment Process

Raw water from the river or dam is abstracted and then pumped to the treatment plant, where it undergoes clarification and filtration.

A typical SewTreat river or dam water treatment process includes:

Coagulation and Flocculation: Addition of coagulant and flocculant to bind suspended solids.
Clarification: Settling of heavier particles through a lamella clarifier or settling tank.
Filtration: AFM (Activated Filter Media) and GAC (Granular Activated Carbon) filtration to remove fine solids, organics, and odours.
Disinfection: Chlorination or UV disinfection to eliminate pathogens.
Storage & Distribution: Treated water is stored in steel water storage tanks with distribution to end-use points or booster systems.

SewTreat systems are designed for both potable and process water applications, ensuring reliable, sustainable supply from natural sources while maintaining full compliance with SANS 241 and DWS requirements.
